| "No CE Signature" displays when downloaded .exe file is run. |
| Problem: One of the Knitware programs is downloaded, but when the downloaded file is double-clicked to run it and extract the files to be installed, the "No CE Signature Found" error occurs. Cause: This error occurs when the downloaded file is corrupted, usually the result of the download terminating before the entire file is downloaded. Occasionally, this will happen if the Internet connection was disrupted during the download. If this is the case, deleted whatever was downloaded and try again when your connection is restored. If you happen to still be using a dial-up connection to the Internet, that will definitely interfere with the download, as most dial-up ISPs have restrictions on the time or the amount of data that can be downloaded in a single session. If this applies to you, call your dial-up ISP for assistance. However, the most common cause of premature termination of the download will be the security settings on your computer. These settings exist at multiple levels: Windows or Vista firewall, the security level that your browser is set to, security level(s) within whatever security software you have running on your system (e.g., Norton, McAfee, or the like). If you are running McAfee, there is a "trust" setting in that program that is difficult to find, and when found, seems not to be related. However, by having that trust setting turned on, it seems to interfere with downloads from certain websites. McAfee may or may not be the only security program with this type of setting. You can turn off every security setting you can find, or experiment with them one by one until you are able to complete the download successfully. After each download attempt, check the size of the downloaded file. If is not at least 4.6MB (will show as 4,668KB), then the download was terminated prematurely and you cannot proceed. Once the download is complete successfully, you can restore all security settings. Note that if you cannot "save"/download the file successfully, you will not be able to "run" it directly either. Please consult the documentation for Windows, Vista, and/or your security program for additional information on changing your security settings. Something may have occurred during the download attempt. There may have been an intermittent problem with either the host server or your connection. The demo file is 4.65MB and it should download in less than one minute with a high-speed connection. If you still have a problem, you can purchase the demo CD. The CD contains all three programs. Once they are installed, no further download is necessary, as each demo program can be activated to full program capability with the serial number provided upon purchase of the full version. |
