Technical Notes for Downloading
  • There are three KNITWARE programs available for download and trial:
    Basics, Sweaters, Skirts & Shawls.

  • All programs are supported only when run on computer systems that run
Microsoft Windows systems. See here for more information,
especially if you are running Windows 7 or Windows Vista. (see
here if you wish to run on a Mac).

  • Downloading, installing and running the trial programs
successfully allow you to ensure the programs will work on your
    system BEFORE you buy.

  • The KNITWARE download files  are self-extracting  zipped files.  Each
zipped file is approximately 5 MB. After downloading and opening the
files,  the extracted files need a minimum of 5MB on your hard drive to
    run.
Note: Make sure the downloaded file is shown to be the full 5MB in
size. If it is not that size, the download did not complete
successfully and you will be unable to proceed successfully.
If using Internet Explorer, you will see a message saying "Would you like to open the
File or Save it to your computer?
".
Click the
Save option and specify a folder on your disk to which you want the file
downloaded.
DO NOT download onto your desktop.
  • If using Netscape, and a message box saying "Unknown File Type" appears, click
on the 'Save File' option, not 'More Info'. You do not need a plug-in to download
    these files.
If you currently use Knitware and want
to determine which version you are
running, see
here.

  • If using Mozilla, you will need to predefine a destination folder before beginning the
    download.
  • If you are using FIREFOX, check that the download has completed
successfully and that your downloaded file is 5MB in size. Some customers
have experienced problems with Firefox failing to complete the download,
but with no error message. It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer
or Google Chrome to perform the download instead of Firefox.
