| The Knitware Design program was created by Janet Tombu in 1991. A gifted and talented mathematician, systems analyst, and computer programmer, Janet is also an avid knitter. In creating Knitware, she combined her technical expertise and love of knitting. In early 2006, after 15 years of making Knitware successful, Janet decided it was time to retire and put the company up for sale. I am Ada Lai and my company is Great Knit Designs. I am honored to have been chosen by Janet to carry on the Knitware tradition. Along with my grand plans for the product, I intend to uphold Janet's principles of product quality and customer support. Like Janet, I am a mathematician (by education), a systems analyst, and (at various times) a computer programmer. In addition, I have spent many years working as a customer support engineer and a technical writer for numerous high-tech firms, with stints also in technical education, product marketing, and sales. So... I've done just about everything in the high tech industry. I am a rabid hand knitter (and I do mean "rabid")... having also been a rabid crocheter for many years. Although I did have a Brother KH-260 many years ago, I consider myself a novice machine knitter. Janet introduced me to the Bond and I continually struggle to find the time to gain proficiency on it. I have been a Knitware user for over four years, and I love the product! My husband, Bob, and talented daughter, Alex, help me whenever they can, so, once again, Knitware is a family business and we are all excited about the potential for new growth. I am also fortunate to have made some very good friends since taking over Knitware, many of whom have volunteered to help me help you, the customers of Great Knit Designs. I am especially grateful to Heather Thompson and Iris Moon, who provide a lot of help in the area of customer support which, in turn, helps make GKD a great company to deal with. Most of all, Great Knit Designs and Knitware would not be what they are today without the dedication and loyalty of our customers - so thanks to all of you for loving the product and spreading "the word"! Sincerely, Ada Lai |
