If you have already installed your Knitware program on your Vista system,
you may start directly with step 4. below.

  1. Check to make sure that your Vista user ID has administrator privileges. This
    is really important.
  2. Log onto Vista with your administrator-level user ID.
  3. Install Knitware - do NOT run the program at the end of the installation.
  4. In the Vista Start > Programs menu, find the menu item for your Knitware
    program and right-click it to display the Properties box for the program and
    do the following:
  1. Click the Compatibility tab.
  2. Select the compatibily mode for Windows XP.
  3. Check the box to run the program as an administrator.
  4. Leave all other settings unchanged or unchecked.
  1. When you save the new properties, you should be able to run the program
    successfully from this point forward. Once the program starts up successfully,
    you can enter the serial number to enable full program mode.


If your Knitware program still does not run successfully, try the following:
  1. Uninstall Knitware.
  2. Restart your Vista system.
  3. Repeat the above procedure steps 1 through 5.
Setting Compatibility Mode
for Knitware
on Vista Home Edition

Once you set the compatibility mode for your Knitware program, you will
not have to do anything more to run the program. However, if you
uninstall and re-install Knitware, you will have to repeat this procedure.

If you use more than one Knitware program, you will have to set
compatibility mode for each of your programs.
